Left Out: iOS 4 and the iPad

07.27.10
If you have an iPad (or if you're a Mac rumor mill addict) you've probably noticed that the iPad, the company's darling only a few months ago, has been left out in the cold so far when it comes to the upgrade to iOS 4.  And this is kind of odd because it seems like iOS 4 would answer at least one of the major gripes with the device, namely, the lack of multitasking.  Furthermore, folders and iAd just make too much sense for use on the larger, elegant iPad to not be implemented immediately.

Still, Steve Jobs did announce that iOS 4 would be available for the iPad sometime this fall, so at least there's something to look forward to.  And while there have been rumors that Apple intends to charge users for the upgrade, subsequent looks into the iPad licensing documentation seem to suggest that it will be free.
