Netgear ReadyNAS: A Cost-Effective Network Storage Solution

07.07.10

The Advantage of Network-Attached Storage (NAS)

The days of storing files only on our desktop or laptop’s hard drive are coming to a close.  Especially when it comes to business, but increasingly in homes as well, standards are moving toward storing files on a machine connected to a local network.

There are numerous advantages to having data storage on your network.  Just to name a few, network-attached storage allows you to:

  • Share files (documents, music, photos, movies, etc.) with multiple computers on your network, increasing productivity, collaboration, and fun.
  • Back up computers connected to your network.
  • Access media files with devices other than personal computers, such as TVs with internet connectivity.

NAS Made Affordable

Traditionally, storage over the network has come from servers.  And servers are expensive.  While servers certainly still have their place, network-attached storage can now be implemented at a relatively low cost due to advances in technology.

Netgear ReadyNAS:  A Recommended Solution

A NAS solution we have implemented with clients and feel confident recommending is Netgear’s ReadyNAS line of products.  Even with the most modestly priced ReadyNAS model, you can put upwards of 8TB of protected storage on your network for well under $1,000.

Check out NetGear’s ReadyNAS website for more information on their product offerings, and don’t hesitate to call us if you’d like to know whether one of these devices would be right for your home or business.
